ALDRICH RANSLEIGH MOJARES Hui, The Makati Science Vision web design editor, obtained a two-week scholarship grant in Japan from the American Field Service (AFS) Japan and the AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines after passing the Japan-East Asia Network of Students and Youths Scholarship (Jenesys) Program, Dec. 8-21.
Together with 600 scholars from India, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and New Zealand, Hui will study Japanese culture and history through study tours, Dec. 11, 19, and 20; and home stay and school exchange programs, Dec. 12-17.
Hui will visit Kyoto, Nagoya, and Hiroshima Prefectures, will stay with his host family in Yokohama City, and will attend classes in Higashi High School, also in Yokohama City.
Promoting mutual understanding through youth and student exchange programs within the region, the AFS Jenesys Program aims to create a commonly shared vision for the region toward forming a strong solidarity among Asian countries and to foster the establishment of good sentiments toward Japan among Asian countries.
Also, the AFS Jenesys Program is supported by the Japanese Government that donated a substantial amount of money to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Integration Program. |
