Ocampo tops Makati pop ed quiz

Trained by Miss Marissa Maralit Razon, Makati Science High School Asian History teacher, Ocampo bagged first place in the Division of City Schools of Makati Population Education Quiz Bee at the Bangkal National High School, City of Makati, Sept. 14.

Nung araw ng contest, kinabahan talaga ako. Nagdasal ako. Ang sabi ko, ‘Lord, I did my part, kayo na po ang bahala sa akin,’ ” Ocampo said.

Reyes rules stat quiz

TOPPLING ALL CONTESTANTS from all public and private secondary schools in the city, Reginald Carl Rivera Reyes of IV-Michael Faraday bagged first place in the City of Makati Statistics Quiz Competition at the New City Hall of Makati, Nov. 28.

Reyes received a PhP10 000 cash prize and a trophy, while Mr Mark Anthony Jacob Vidallo, Makati Science High School Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, and Statistics teacher and Reyes’s trainer, received PhP3 000 and a plaque of appreciation.

With the theme “Statistics and Actions: A Road to a Better Life Through the Millennium Development Goals,” the statistics quiz competition promotes awareness and appreciation of the value and importance of official statistics in different sectors of the society.

Pascua, Outstanding Expat Pinoy Child

CHOSEN FROM AMONG thousands of public and private secondary and tertiary students in the country, Mary Grace Enrera Pascua of IV-Michael Faraday emerged as one of the 10 Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children.

During the formal awarding ceremonies, which highlighted the BPI’s 156th Anniversary Celebration, at the BPI Corporate Office in the City of Makati on Aug. 3, Pascua received a PhP50 000 cash prize, two Nokia 5070 cellular phones, and a trophy.

“I was not expecting to win such a national competition because I only submitted my requirements on the last day of submission, but it was indeed a blessing to me and to my family, especially to my father who works as an overseas Filipino worker at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Pascua said.

The third child of Mr Jesus Encelan Pascua and Mrs Amparo Enrera Pascua, Pascua received the highest award in girl scouting during the Girl Scout of the Philippines Awarding of the Chief Scout Medal Scheme at the Malacañang Palace, City of Manila, last year.

Apolinario, Prinsipe ng Bigkasan

A MULTITUDE OF ear-splitting cheers and thunderous applause filled the Francisco Santiago Hall when Paulo De Guzman Apolinario of III-Ernest Rutherford was crowned Prinsipe ng Bigkasan in the 22nd Timpalak Bigkasan sa Lungsod ng Makati at the Banco de Oro Tower I, Makati Ave., Brgy. Bel-Air, City of Makati, Aug. 7.

Bagging first place, Apolinario received a PhP5 000 cash prize, a bronze laurel crown, and a plaque of recognition, while Mr Oliver Baysa Borromeo, Makati Science High School Filipino III teacher and Apolinario’s trainer, received a PhP5 000 cash prize and a certificate of appreciation.

Meanwhile, Luigi Aimes Umali Tan of IV-Michael Faraday and Ma Paulina Flores Bullanday and Armand Joseph Suero Aquino of IV-Albert Einstein copped third place in the Third Timpalak Balagtasan sa Lungsod ng Makati at the Banco de Oro Tower I, Makati Ave., Brgy. Bel-Air, City of Makati, Aug. 8.

Tan, Aquino, and Bullanday received a PhP5 000 cash prize and certificates of appreciation, while Mrs Elsa Arguil-Alvarez, Makati Science Filipino IV teacher and their trainer, received a PhP5 000 cash prize and a certificate of appreciation.
