AFTER PASSING A rigid selection process conducted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) National Office at the City of Manila, Kevin Perez Valenzuela and Marvin Daniel Vasquez Bermillo represented the BSP-City of Makati Council in the 21st World Scout Jamboree at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, England, from July 27 to Aug. 8.

With 40 000 scouts, leaders, and venturers, Valenzuela and Bermillo shared adventures, international friendship, and personal growth and development, and participated in activities that promote world peace, unity amid diversity, and environmental protection and preservation.

“We participated in the world villages, the community action day, and the global development village activities. We enjoyed the Gilwell Adventure, an action-packed day of adventures and challenging activities at the Gilwell Park,” Valenzuela said.

Joining the centennial celebration of the World Scouting Movement, BSP National President Jejomar Cabauatan Binay headed the Philippine delegation of 100 scouts, 10 of which, including Valenzuela and Bermillo, were sponsored by the City of Makati, in cooperation with the Sime Darby, the Pascual Laboratories, and the Coca-Cola Company.

Hosted by the Scout Association of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland based in London, the said world jamboree aims to excite, to motivate, and to challenge scouts, leaders, venturers, and the international service team.
