Makati Science spearheads gender sensitivity trainings

IN COMPLIANCE WITH the City of Makati Ordinance No. 2006-020, otherwise known as the City of Makati Gender and Development Code, the Makati Science High School organized a series of gender sensitivity trainings for parents, teachers, and students at the Makati Science Conference Room and Audio Visual Room in October.

 

Parents and Teachers Association (GPTA), the gender sensitivity trainings adhered to the belief that development is a common responsibility of both sexes and that the highest degree of development and social progress is attained through collaborative efforts based on admiration and mutual respect.

“The Makati Science conducted a series of gender sensitivity trainings to help implement the gender and development code, which was enacted by the city government with the end in view of promoting gender and development as its program platform toward the Twenty-first Century, focusing on issues at home, school, workplace, community, and mass media,” remarked Mr Alixander Haban Escote, Makati Science FC president.

Spearheaded by Mr Escote; Peter Joseph Pajanustan Torres, Makati Science SSG president; and engineer Joseph Guerero Fagel, Makati Science GPTA president; the gender sensitivity trainings included modules on sex, gender, and culture, manifestation of gender biases, introduction to violence against women, creating a gender and development vision, among others.
