D+T sparks RP, UK link

WITH THE OBJECTIVE of initializing another link between the Republic of the Philippines and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland through sports development and other extracurricular activities, Mrs Janet Cullen-Cornelius and Mr David Patrick Bullock, London’s Lea Valley High School principal and assistant principal, respectively, visited the Makati Science High School, July 7-13.

Established by the British Council and the Youth Sports Trust, the Dreams and Teams (D+T) Club, which aims to to foster a healthy relationship among schools worldwide, hosted the British visitors from Einfield, London, England.

During their stay in the city, Mrs Cullen and Mr Bullock observed various classes, participated in different sports activities, and paid a courtesy call to City Mayor Jejomar Cabauatan Binay of Makati and Miss Elena del Rosario Ruiz, Division of City Schools of Makati superintendent.

Mrs Cullen and Mr Bullock toured the City of Makati and the Walled City of Intramuros in Manila, and visited the Makati Aqua Sports Arena, the Fort Bonifacio Athletic Field, and elementary and secondary schools of the city.

In a separate interview with The Makati Science Vision, Mrs Cullen and Mr Bullock shared their wonderful experiences in the city, and they wondered how Filipino teachers gain enormous respect from their students as opposed to their counterparts in London schools.

“Our experiences in the Philippines as a whole have been very positive,” Mr Bullock said, “Sobra[ng] mabuti (very fine).”

Along with the Makati High School in the City of Makati and the Saint Scholastica’s College in the City of Manila, the Makati Science, represented by Dr Divinelinda Estrañero-Dela Cruz, school principal, and Mr Aver Lagrimas Sister, D+T Club moderator, visited the Lea Valley High School, Mar. 21-30.
