Through its years of sowing seeds of hard work and utmost dedication. The Makati Science Vision has held true to its prime tenets. It has told its readers comic, moving, and heartwarming stories of love and hate, of enmity and friendship, and of loss and great victory. It has taught its readers meaningful lessons in life through inspiring accounts of courage and perseverance. It has celebrated the glory of the rich social and cultural heritage of the Filipino people as it discovers the hidden treasure of the Malay race. VOLUME IX NUMBER 1

In taking bold steps toward improving its craft, The Makati Science Vision deviated from the campus journalistic standard and released its Volume IX Number 1 June – December 2005 issue in a tree-section format, with each page hailing the beauty and splendor of human life. Its news, opinion, and literary section give voices to teachers and students who have promoted the dignity of human talent and knowledge. From heartwarming accounts of borderless love and friendship, of losing love in the sight of a friend, and of recalling memories of an unhappy childhood, it has also touched into the hearts of young individuals to share the virtues and insipirations they stood by while hurdling their trials and tribulations on the road to success.

Endowing a warm heart and a vibrant mind to this school year’s issue, the features section showcases the rich history and cultural treasures of the Filipino heritage. Drawn from actual experiences of student journalists, the island of Corregidor at the mouth of the Manila Bay, the old Ciudad Fernandina de Vigan in the Province of Ilocos Sur, the four baroque colonial churches in Miag-ao, Ilo-ilo; Intramuros, Manila; Paoay, Ilocos Norte; and in a Santa Maria, Ilocus Sur, inscribed in the Unesco World Heritage List, and the depiction of the Filipino heritage with a review of St Louis Love Dem Filipinos, a moving musical play that hails the common anthem of Filipinos—to do something great for God, family, and country.

In highlighting the athletic undertakings of the human body, The Makati Science Vision not only expounds on the glory of success, it also delves into the untold stories and inspirations of athletes as they hone their bodies and their spirits. In three intimate encounters, three season sportsmen—First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, Ateneo Blue Eagles Coach Norman Black, and UAAP Most Valuable Player Arwind Santos—share the discipline, creativity, comic relief, perseverance and faith in the Divine Providence they have maintained throughout their journey toward their successful undertakings in sports. Through The Makati Science Viison, they entrusted their keys to attaining victory in the hope of infusing a culture of excellence to their fellow men.

As The Makati Science Vision continues to uphold its maxim, it gives tribute to times and events, places and peoples that shape the essence of our individuality and our destiny as a people of great cultural heritage. It echoes the struggles and the triumphs of the Filipino as he journeys through life, hails the ties of love and friendship that he shares with his friends, family, and environment, and celebrates the glory of God who has given him all the good and essential things that he needed to survive the harsh realities of life. A true labor of love, sacrifice, dedication, and perseverance, The Makati Science Vision commemorates the real meaning of human life with its page—each with its own story to tell, lesson to teach, and glory to celebrate.
